FILM REVIEW
The fim is entitled « The Colour Purple ». It is an espistolary novel written by Alice Walker in 1983. The film director is Blitz Bazawule.
She won the Pulitzer Prize in 1984.
It is about the story of two sisters who are separated for 40 years.
The film takes in Georgia, in America’s rural South in 1909.
Celie is the main heroine of the film. She was married to an abusive husband whose name is Mister.
She is very miserable. She isn’t allowed to receive her sister’s letters, he beats her, he is very violent.
Shug Avery and Sofia become friends with Celie and they help her. She becomes self-confident and manages to change her destiny.
This fim is moving and interesting because it tells us about segregation and resilience.
It is sad but the music makes it more joyous.
Everyone should watch this movie !
