1 Which school subjects do you study at school ?
Katere šolske predmete se učiš v šoli ?
The subjects taught at school are : Maths, Slovene, English, Biology, Geography, History, Chemistry, Physics, Art, Music, Technology and Sports. There are a great number of the so-called optional or selective subjects, such as other foreign languages beside English : German, French and Spanish. Students asked have chosen different optional subjects.
2 Do you learn about foreign countries ? (At which subjects ?)
Ali se učite o tujih državah ? (Pri katerih predmetih ?)
Students learn about foreign countries at Geography, History, English and German.
3 What are the lessons like ? (school objects, teaching methods, school trips)
Kakšna je ura ? (šolski predmeti, metode učenja, šolski izleti)
Students say the lessons are usually interesting. Sometimes they work in pairs or groups, they us computers and TV, they go to daily outings to different parts of Slovenia. Some students think the lessons sometimes can be boring as well.
4 Do you use any foreign words in daily conversation ? (Which ones ?)
Ali uporabljaš kakšne tuje besede v vsakodnevnem pogovoru ? (Katere ?)
Teenagers use many foreign words in daily conversation, but the words are slightly changed from the original. Many words originate in English. The words that were mentioned a lot are : cool, sorry, stop, OK, OMG, lol, nice, full, bye, cya. They use also many abbreviated words, especially when chatting on internet, for example tyt (take your time) or brb (be right back).
1 What kind of clothes do you wear ? Do you wear any accessories ?
Kakšna oblačila nosiš ? Ali nosiš kakšne modne dodatke ?
Students like to wear different clothes. They like wearing jeans, T-shirts and other comfortable clothes. Sometimes they wear also accessories, for example earrings, watches, bracelets, glasses, …)
2 Which money (currency) do you use ?
Katero denarno enoto uporabljate ?
The Slovene currency is Euro.
3 How do you spend your holidays and festivals ? (Do you give and get any presents ?)
Kako preživljaš počitnice in praznike ? (Ali podariš oziroma dobiš kakšno darilo ?)
Students celebrate at home, with families and friends. Sometimes they go on a trip. They spend their holidays at the seaside or go skiing in winter. Some kids think that giving presents is more fun than getting them. They usually get presents for their birthdays. 10 students out of 20 said as well they got presents for Santa Claus.
4 What do you usually eat ?

When they were asked about the food, majority of the students said they like potatoes (18 out of 20). 18 students eat meat. They also eat bread (16), fruit (12), vegetables (9) and sweets (10).
FOREIGN FOOD AND BEVERAGES
1 Do you know of any foreign food ? Which one ?
Ali poznaš kakšno tujo jed ? Katero ?
Students know some foreign food (Italian, American, Chinese, Japanese, ..) : pizza, spaghetti, lasagne, kebab, čevapčiči, sushi, tortillas, even shrimp crisps.
2 Do you know of any foreign drinks ?
Ali poznaš kakšno tujo pijačo ?
They know quite a lot of foreign drinks, such as coca cola, fanta, sprite, mohito, jagermeister, Turkish tea, …
1 What do you do in your free time ? (entertainment and work)
Kaj počneš ob prostem času ? (zabava in delo)
In their free time, kids like reading books (10), play computer (11), watch TV (11), go out with their friends (6), take dogs for a walk (4), play the piano (4), play the flute (4), do different sports, for example volleyball, basketball riding (4), write stories (1), dance (1), do different chores and help at home (3).
2 Which games do you play ?
Katere igre igraš ?
They play different games such as computer games (6), play cards (3), play monopoly (4) and scrable (2), play a special game called ‘Man, don’t be angry’ (2), word building (1), chess (1).
3 Do you travel ? (If yes, is it just Slovenia, Europe or beyond ?)
Ali potuješ ? (Če ja, ali je to samo Slovenija, Evropa ali tudi drugje ?)
Most interviewees travel around Slovenia (10) and around Europe (12). 3 of them don’t travel at all.
4 Do you ever go on a trip with your family ?
Ali greste kdaj na potovanje z družino ?
18 out of 20 go on a trip with their families, whereas 2 of them never go on a trip.
1 What kind of music do you listen to ?
Katero zvrst glasbe poslušaš ?
They all listen to music, but they have different tastes. 7 students listen to pop music, they also listen to rock (6), mix (5), metal (1), classic (1), techno (2) and new age music (1).
2 Do you read any books by foreign authors ? (Original / translation)
Ali si prebral kakšno knjigo od tujih avtorjev ? (Originalno / prevod)
All of them read books by foreign authors, all of them, 7 out of 20 students have read a book in original language, all of them have read foreign authors in translation.
3 Do you go to the cinema or theatre ? (Are foreign films subtitled ?)
Ali greš v kino ali gledališče ? (Ali so tuji filmi s podnapisi ?)
Students like going to the cinema. 18 out of 20 students go to the cinema, 1 mentioned as well theatre, 20 of them don’t go to the cinema at all.
1 What sports do you practise ?
Kateri šport treniraš ?
They practice many different types of sports : swimming (4), cycling (4), running (3). gymnastics (3), basketball (3), volleyball (4), football (1), athletics (1), dance (1), riding (2). 4 of the students said they didn’t do any sports at all.
2 Do you ever participate in sports competitions abroad ? (Do our sportsmen c in international competitions ?)

1 What type of mass media do you have at home ? Which of those do you use the most ?
Katere medije imate doma ? Katere od teh najpogosteje uporabljaš ?
Nowadays there are many different types of mass media at home. Students watch TV (20), listen to the radio (20), use PC (20), use mobile phone (2), listen to MP4 (1), 3 students like reading newspapers.
2 How do the information spread among people ?
Kako se informacije širijo med ljudi ?
The information is spread via Internet (18). mobiles (3). by watching TV (15) and listening to the radio (8). 15 students read newspapers They also said the information is spread via e-mails, telephone and of course, orally.
